Every year, as of 1990, Alimos, with the contribution of the Province of Forlì-Cesena, promotes the project Agricoltura-Ambiente-Alimentazione (Agriculture-Environment and Food). This project aims to foster the link between agriculture and school, raise awareness of the countryside environment, farmers' activities and quality eco-friendly productions.

Following the example of northern Europe, Alimos created in 1997 the first network of Fattorie Didattiche (Teaching or Educational Farms), including local farmers of the Romagna area.

In 1998, the Emilia-Romagna Region launched the project Fattorie Aperte e Fattorie Didattiche (Open Educational Farms), organised by Alimos together with nine regional provinces.

Today there are 330 qualified agricultural holdings in the Emilia-Romagna regional network of Fattorie Didattiche. They are organised in 9 provincial networks and can host up to 5.500 classes and groups, for a total of 115.000 children and adults every year.
